At 10: 55, John threw a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup to David. Just as I was asking the class what the tone of Lil' Mama's "Lip Gloss" is, the chocolaty peanut butter hit the floor. Darius picked it up; there was a brief verbal spar between the boys. I called on Manijha to explain the tone, and told David I would take the projectile off his hands.
At 10:57, Manijha astutely explained, based on the Ms. McClarkson verse, that the tone of the song is humorous, and David told me he had nothing but bus tickets in his pockets.
"It's orange. Keep looking."
"What, this?"
"Yes, David." With one disruptive student already sitting at my desk and my computer cart covered in papers, I had nowhere to set the Reese's, so I ate it. It was delicious, and nothing else was thrown the rest of class.
