One: I was almost in a rickshaw accident. In her hurry to get a cup of coffee, Mom tried to cross the divided Pragati Sharani Road without looking the way the way that traffic was not coming. She waited for all of the big buses to go by and then started walking, with me in tow. She failed to notice the rickshaw barreling toward us against traffic, and I was grazed. I was fine, just a little scared, until I got to the toys inside the coffee shop.
Two: I was almost in an electrical fire. The other night when I woke up just after midnight, as I do most nights, Mom had pity on me because I had been sick for about a week. Upon entering my room, she went first to the lamp to turn it on, but as she bumped the cord, there was a huge pop and what looked like a giant firecracker exploding in my room. The cord for the lamp just burnt in two! I'm glad she hadn't picked me up yet.
Now, the craziest thing about that is that when the electrician came to fix the outlets in my room (none of which worked after the firecracker explosion), he immediately stuck a screwdriver in the first socket. Mom and Dad have spent a lot of time trying to get me not to stick anything in those sockets, so I was pretty surprised to see that. He did get everything working again, including the offending lamp, which has a new cord.
Bowman, you are repeating an incident your mom had as a toddler in her bedroom in Roseburg! We woke up in the morning to a blackened wall by the outlet in your mom's room and everything in the room was full of soot, including her nose! Thankful to the Lord that she was okay and you, too!
